Another ceramic piggy bank has come out of the kiln! Meet the latest of the bunch, a fat friendly Racoon Piggy Bank.

I had a lot of fun making a horridly obese racoon. This guy needs to be put on a steady diet of currency.

You can see here the mottled colors I used for glazing. I actually mixed black and white for various shades of gray- for whatever reason, it turned brown in the kiln, but I actually think it looks better this way!

Here's the penny slot and the striped tail. It's funny- before the racoon was painted, it was difficult to tell if it was a squirrel, a fox, or any other creature. But the black mask and striped tail are very iconic, and once painted he was unmistakeable.

The clay I use (B-Mix) shrinks about 10-12% in the kiln. I made the Racoon Piggy Bank BIG, and he wound up at about this size. Still, it's a good size for a piggy bank. There is a hole on the bottom (with a rubber stopper) for the safe removal of coins.
