A friend of mine, one Manuel Peinado, offered to pain a ceramic sculpture I'd made while working at a summer camp in Marin. What he produced is, quite simply, amazing.
Many of the ceramic sculptures I make are designed to be easily replicated by kids. The Monster Cat is basically a pinch pot with teeth.
I enjoy how Manny took both an organic and artistic approach to painting the Monster Cat.
This, according to Manny, is the boy inside the beast's belly.
